Berlin - the last part of the gift

Each trip should start with a plan. We as always reminded of it 3 days before departure, and the only thing we had secured was a trip to the Bundestag and it was actually only due to the required registration. Time was running out, but we took all of our force and we jumped into the web. We managed to find some interesting web sites of the most interesting places and based on them we created maps, which helped us in exploring. By the way Karolcia found website with walking tours, and she especially liked the idea of walk in the footsteps of the Nazis, but I was deterred by the price which is 10 euros per person. Because of my passion for history I thought I would be prepare it better by myself. Just before leaving we printed maps and descriptions, and then headed to the city center.

Upon arrival to our destination at seven o'clock, we went to S-Bahn station, which drove us to our host. Here worth noting is the fact that the ticket machines at railway stations of the German capital are for only maestro card, we do not have such, so we had to obtain cash from ATM. After the morning we set off to explore - at the beginning we chose the older part of the city - Gendarmenmarktopen in new window square. There are situated on the New Churchopen in new window, the Operaopen in new window and the French Cathedralopen in new window.

On that day was organized well known to us from the Poland campaign "Night of Museums", except that in Berlin it was demanded a fee. Those which we were able to visit the previously mentioned Altes Museum, DDR Museum, which for us was incredibly boring - after all, we had same situation in Poland, but girl from France that we met on the spot, really enjoyed it. Finally, we visited the museum of the U-Bahn, to which we rode with great curiosity - six months earlier during a visit to London we visited the transport museum, which was amazing - but at this we were terribly disappointed. This one is small, with mainly pictures and maps - in my opinion it is not a place worth visiting. However, just before it, we stopped at the Classic Remiseopen in new window museum, that is located in the old tram depot. Although de facto name museum does not appear anywhere and it is not realy a museum, but a large private collection of vintage cars and an equally large gallery very valuable cars for sale. For us, it made a huge impression and for every motoring enthusiast is a place that must visit in Berlin, plus admission is free.

The next day we went outside Berlin to the Gatow airport to see the museum of the German Air Forceopen in new window. It occupies an area almost the entire airport and several hangars full of airplanes and helicopters coming from nearly one hundred year history of the Luftwaffe. Unfortunately, as is often the case, not all exposures were open, so I havent been able to see the very interesting airplanes from World War II. However, apart from it, we spent a good few hours watching stuff, and for fans of aviation it's also a must-see placewhich is freeto enter 😃.

At the beginning of Monday, we wanted to see the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Churchopen in new window, from which after the war was only the main tower left as a symbol of anti-war. Unfortunately, once again we were unlucky - it was just being renovated, almost fully enclosed with aluminum protective structure.

A night journey to the Poland, the morning toilet in home, repacking and on a plane to Stockholm 😃. As for the four-day stay in the capital of Germany we were able to see a lot of things, even though not everything we wanted. Berlin to us looksas a city with a brilliant, easy to master publiccommunication. It seemed very logical and structured, although a little "raw". The prices are a little higher than ours, but there is no tragedy. The things that we are astonished at the western city is trouble paying with card - in many places are the limits of 10 or 20 euros, so it's better to obtain cash. Trip for two people was about 800 zł, ignoring the cost of travel, which also was not high - at the end Karolcia got us good tickets for Simple Express. And we did not pay for accommodation, which, as we checked out the price would raise price at least twice, unless we would stay somewhere on the outskirts of Berlin. We like this city, it is very interesting and if I will ever would have to move out of my beloved Warsaw, I would take seriously the capital city of Germany.
